District
Since 1888, when the General Assembly of South Carolina created the "County of Florence," including the towns of Timmonsville, Coward and Lake City, Florence County continues to grow at an unbelievable pace.
Originally centered as an eastern-regional hub for railroad companies, Florence County has expanded in population, business and educational opportunities.
Florence County, which now includes the city of Florence, Lake City, Scranton, Coward, Johnsonville, Olanta, Timmonsville, Quinby, Pamplico, and many others, is the home to numerous international and national companies. Just during the past three years, Florence County has had the incredible opportunity of landing many "big-time" companies. However, in order to fully understand the reason why these different companies are settling in Florence County and the Pee Dee region, we need not look any further than its people.
The people of Florence County are hard-working individuals who have a strong sense of family, faith and opportunity. Florentines believe in giving an honest day's work for an honest day's pay. They are truly proud to say that they are from Florence County.
