When I was elected to the General Assembly 27 years ago, I promised that my door would be open at anytime and I appreciate and highly value the concerns that you share. Knowing what different people think, through direct and open conversations, is one of my main responsibilities in representing you in District 31.

Since the founding of the democratic process, constituent opinions and ideas have played a direct role in shaping policy. During my time in office, I have had the opportunity to talk with many people throughout the Pee Dee region and the state about important issues. I treasure every opportunity that you and I have to receive input from one another, and I would ask that you continue to be involved.

I believe the Internet is a great way to continue to converse. With that in mind, I hope that you will use this web site to look at the work that we do in Columbia at the State House. In addition, it is my hope that this web site will not only provide you with the opportunity of staying up-to-date with our communications, but also with a chance to take part in the legislative process, while helping to solve some of the problems that you may have.

Leatherman Tax Realignment Commission Receives Senate Approval

4/24/2008 - The South Carolina Senate took the first step in rebuilding a “cobbled together” tax code that no longer reflects the realities of the state’s current economic forces. I introduced the legislation to establish the South Carolina Tax Realignment Commission earlier in this session and the Senate gave the idea second reading.
